Andy Tauer Attar "AT"
At the end of April, if you remember, Andy Tauer came to Les Senteurs in London to present his exclusive - only available at appearance - line of 3 scents. You can read about it here Around that time he released on the website his magazine and a lucky few had the opportunity to receive it in the post together with an unreleased 1ml attar of oud scent. Named simply AT, this was created as a trial and was immediately snapped up from his website where a limited amount became av

Floralust by Agonist
Agonist, the luxury Swedish Perfume House founded by the creative couple Christine and Niclas Lydeen, officially launched in 2008 with one perfume that was housed in a Kosta Boda crystal bottle, so unique and expensive that their first client was a museum. I had the opportunity to meet them a couple of weeks ago when Intertrade Group organised an event at the Shop at Bluebird with them and the dynamic duo that is Olfiction, Nick Gilbert and Pia Long. Through discussion and st

Perfume of the Week… Build and Destroy…
I was lucky to win and receive the limited edition Build and Destroy perfume a couple of weeks ago and have been wearing it quite a lot since then. Build and Destroy was created by Azzi Glasser in collaboration with James Lavelle, the owner of Mo’Wax records. The unique formula was created to scent the Saatchi Gallery as part of a Mowax Exhibition curated by Lavelle, with its notes of frankincense, myrrh, blond woods and vetiver oils. The collaboration extended to the contemp

Technique Indiscrete… Monarchy, Indiscrete & Eau d’ Anvers review
The next three perfumes from the Technique Indiscrete line we'll be looking at today are Monarchy, Indiscrete and Eau D'anvers. Monarchy Monarchy is a beautiful floral scent that opens with a familiar citrus accord but very soon the flowers appear, freshly cut and vibrant. The perfume was inspired by the everyday life of the Belgian royal family so it's no surprise that the dry down has a very elegant, luxurious feels while still remaining subtle, rich and velvety. It leaves

Perfume of the Week... You or Someone Like You by ELdO
About 10days ago, as guests of The Perfume Society, we had the opportunity to be present at the UK launch of the new ELdO perfume “You or Someone Like You” at Les Senteurs and had the added pleasure of hearing about the inspiration behind it from the man himself, Etienne De Swardt. Inspired by the book Chandler Burr wrote a few years back, Etienne liked the name so much that he gave Chandler complete freedom to create a scent that encompassed the book’s heroine and in collabo

Perfume of the Week… Rosier by Nancy Meiland plus a quick review of Aquilaria & Illumine
Spring is arriving very slowly however the scent of the new rose blooms fills the air. It is the best time of year for roses, as the combination of the rich flower scent gets enhanced by the greenness of the fresh stems and newly developed thorns. This is exactly the image that ROSIER tries to encapsulate; “a contemporary twist on the rose scent composed of fine Bulgarian rose, pink pepper for the thorns and green galbanum for the leaves” Notes of Italian bergamot, tangerine

Elementals by Essence of Chi
A few weeks ago I was sent the Elementals set by Essence of Chi, a series of hand-crafted blends of rare woods, florals, herbs and spices that combines the divine art of Haute Perfumery with the ancient Chinese Theory of the Five Elements. Each element in Nature has a taste, a shape, an emotion, a color, a season and a physical connection. We are also born with an Element that dictates our lives, our character, our choices in life. Using only the finest essential oils in the

Andy Tauer Stories
"I can tell you notes and I can tell you materials but it won't really help you." This is how Andy introduced us to his 3 perfumes that are super exclusive and only appear at a specific shop when he does too. The concept as he explained is that in our times where everything is online and available anywhere and at any time we desire, some things have to be personal and I quite agree myself. I must confess I really wanted to go to the event at the beautiful Les Senteurs shop be

Shanghai Tang White, perfume review
Following my review of the 3 "men's" perfumes from the Shanghai Tang perfume line, I tried the 5 that belong to the "women's" line. Like I mentioned in my previous post they were all included in The Perfume Society's "Sharing Collection" box which included perfumes for both sexes and needless to say I wore them all myself! The five perfumes in the White range come in transparent bottles discreetly colored and are: Spring Jasmine The iconic Jasmine Absolute, a symbol of luxur

Perfume of the Week… Lalique Encre Noire Pour Elle
Easter Monday and our Perfume of the Week is Lalique's, Encre Noire Pour Elle. The original Encre Noire for men was released in 2006 in a heavy black crystal block inspired by traditional inkwells and as it became extremely popular to both sexes the feminine version was released in 2009. Housed in the same bottle, the perfume created by Christine Nagel includes notes of Sicilian bergamot, freesia, Indonesian ambrette, Turkish rose, Chinese osmanthus, Haitian vetiver, Texan

Technique Indiscrete … My Burning Secret, Santa Subita & Eau De Bruxelles review
While continuing to try the Technique Indiscrete perfume line, the three scents that caught my attention are My Burning Secret, Santa Subita &Eau De Bruxelles. My Burning Secret Notes: Bergamot, Citron, Notes Fraiches, Géranium Bourbon, Lavender, Tonka, Clove, Pine, Vétiver, Musk. It opens green and light like a walk in the woods brightened by the sparkling bergamot and softened by powdery lavender. It has an air of freedom and slightly more masculine character but as it drie

Perfume of the week… ÉGLANTIER by Nancy Meiland
There is a place in Denmark called Grenen beach in Skagen, Denmark where the North Sea meets the Baltic Sea, but they don’t mix; due to different density the waters flow independently and parallel to each other. Lots of people visit to marvel at yet another natural wonder and this unique scenery and the area’s flora was the inspiration behind Nancy Meiland’s new perfume ÉGLANTIER. The perpetual collision of waves, tame sometimes, and fierce at others, overlapping at sunset, w

Technique Indiscrete... Omnipresence, Delivre Moi & Safron Nobile review
I have been meaning to try the Technique Indiscrete perfume line for some time so when they offered their samples for 1 Euro each on their website I ordered everything that was available. Libertin Louison, a perfumer and designer born in Belgium founded Technique Indiscrete in 2008 and along with his line of perfumes, he offers scented candles, cosmetics, soaps and teas in his shop in Paris. The first three perfumes I tried were Omnipresence, Delivre Moi and Safran Nobile. Om

Union fragrances - review
I have absolutely no recollection of how and when these samples came to my possession and it took me a long while to actually get around to trying them as I actually had forgotten I had them. Back in 2012 when they were first launched there was a big hype and they were sold out in Selfridges where they were exclusively sold as they were advertised – and truly are - unusual and unconventional perfumes with materials sourced from the four corners of the British Isles– and life.

Perfume of the week… Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Camellia…
Green Tea Camellia was launched in 2011 and every year around this time when the real camellias bloom I always return to it as I find it to be a very beautiful interpretation of this exquisite flower. This edition focuses on the exotic tea notes enhanced by the refreshing camellia flowers. It was inspired by ikebana the ancient Japanese art of flower arranging and reveals the floral camellia scent which opens petal by petal as the scent develops. The notes include bergamot, y

Shanghai Tang -perfume review
Shanghai Tang was one of the collections that I wanted to try for a very long time so I was thrilled The Perfume (fairy godmother) Society included them in one their recent discovery boxes, the “Sharing Collection”, which included perfumes for both sexes. Needless to say I tried them all myself and although sharing is caring I am not parting with any of them until I try them first. Naturally I started off with the “men’s” perfumes of the Shanghai Tang collection. According to
