If a bottle of perfume as a gift for Christmas is a step too far outside your comfort zone why not try something else scented and equally delicious?
Candles are very popular this time of year not only because they make a lovely scented present but their light and warmth transcends our spirit.
There are a lot of wonderful candles available from a variety of bands and I've chosen a few to suggest:
I'll start with Jovoy's L'Arbre de la Connaissance an irresistible combination of fig and sandalwood that fills the room with a warm and comforting scent. The extra plus is that it's packed in the most gorgeous red box that is sure to make a lasting impression!
Cire Trudon Amon re - enacts mythological scents with the help of incense, earthy patchouli, tonka bean, lovely jammy rose and an irresistibly woody base of sandalwood and cedar. Quite an elaborate composition from a brand that produces some of the best smelling candles - and the colour is the loveliest peach - pink!
CurioNoir Tubereuse Noir
If you like big floral scents that fill up a room then this is perfect! With violet, rose, heliotrope, tuberose and spices housed in a beautiful individually hand blown glass and filled with biodegradable botanical wax and cotton wicks this new brand from New Zealand is a great offering!
Le Jardin Retrouve, the Mousse Mystique candle was created by Maxence Moutte in France and hand poured in Limoges porcelain basket weave style pots. Perfect for winter as the scent, inspired by the forest and the moss, when lit, will transport you in the deep woods with notes of oakmoss absolute, fig leaves and incense.
Ormonde Jayne Etoile is the absolute Christmas scent with warm, festive notes of mandarin, cardamom, cinnamon, bay, amber and tonka. Sweet, sparkly and festive at the same time!
Anya Smells by Anya Hindmarch
All the candles from Anya's line are fun and smell gorgeously. Chewing Gum might not sound festive but the blend of fresh mint, Madagascan pink pepper, thyme, cherry, cassis pulp, wild raspberry, heliotrope flower, ground almond and cashmeran inspired by memories of back to school thrills, produce a scent that is sweet and naughty at the same time!
Finally Lumira's belief in scents evoking memories drives it to create unique fragrances. Inspired by evening cocktails and blossoming Australian streets, this Tonic of Gin candle is imbued with notes of Murraya, chamomile and juniper, and finished with subtle hints of sandalwood and orris. Very festive and an excellent take on the popular drink - without the alcohol!
