Valentine's Scents Celebrating Eternal Love

Valentine's Day is fast approaching and the question is what to get for my Valentine? Regardless if you celebrate Valentine's, Galentine's or just yourself my answer to all gifting questions is obviously perfume! There are many Valentine themed perfumes as well as gift sets that you can find in the shops and online but the ones I chose this time are celebrating Beauty; the beauty of the materials used, Beauty itself, Art and Sunshine!

Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum Intense

I Received my Mon Guerlain Intense last year from Escentual as part of a blind perfume trial and it was my winner anyway! A distinctive, sensual and unique perfume with the Guerlain DNA intensified in the composition, blending the warmth of vanilla with the freshness of lavender, enhanced by creamy sandalwood and earthy patchouli.

Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum Intense is housed in the gorgeous “quadrilobé” bottle: created in 1908, the bottle established itself as one of Guerlain’s iconic bottles. Simple and graphic, it echoes an alchemist’s bottle and owes its name to its stopper, which is crafted from one piece to obtain a shape resembling four lobes.

Lalique Soleil

I was lucky to attend the launch event where I had the opportunity to meet with the perfumer Barbara Zoebelein, who's inspiration was: "A glorious burst of morning light. A delicious splash of Caffè Latte. A sweet touch of Almond. A soft veil of Jasmine and Musks... With this addictive new fragrance, Lalique celebrates the sun and the free-spirited women who love it."

An ode to sunshine! Soleil is vibrant and delicious from the beginning. It starts fresh, spicy and zesty thanks to sweet mandarin, freshly roasted almonds and a touch of cardamon, like the first ray of sun peeking through the blinds and caressing your skin urging you to get out of bed and start your day. The almost edible notes of the gourmand heart, caffè latte mixed with a mouth-watering pear granita accord and a honeyed jasmine put a smile on your face while the radiant base notes blow a sweet and soft breeze on your skin. The bottle is a a thing of beauty as well!

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Apom Pour Femme

"A Part Of Me", a bit of oneself to leave with others, is a luxurious overdose of orange blossom blended with cedar, herbal, and floral notes. A seemingly very simple composition of three ingredients that translates into a bright and uplifting fragrance that packs a vibrant punch and captivates your senses.

A floral delight that lingers on your skin and leaves a part of you with whoever you come in contact.

Parle Moi De Parfum - GARDENS OF INDIA / 79

The delicious fruit of over 20 years of research by perfumer Michel Almairac.

The fragrance is built around voluptuous tuberose, it opens with a fresh and green jasmine note before a tuberose tornado sweeps you off your feet and swirls you around before it lands you on a soft, velvety sandalwood cushion.

A feast of precious materials and a celebration of perfume creation.

L’Officine Universelle Buly 1803 - EAU TRIPLE THE WINGED VICTORY OF SAMOTHRACE

by the perfumer Aliénor Massenet

The Winged Victory of Samothrace was discovered in 1863 and was reconstructed piece by piece before transported to the Louvre where it's one of the most celebrated pieces of Greek sculpture, beautiful like the perfume inspired by it.

‘Blown by a gale scented with citrus, in the perilous rush of the straits, the white bouquet of the salt-encrusted drapery wraps around the victorious effigy. At her marble feet, the waves, the incantations, the roses, the ocean of History and all her conquests; at her feet, the foundered hearts of heroes.’

A rich harmony of tuberose, magnolia and jasmine enhanced by the warmth of myrrh, in Eau Triple concentration (no alcohol), it's a perfume that can be perceived both as strong and calm at the same time, fleeting and persistent like he idea of the victory itself. It's a subtle tuberose scents (as subtle tuberose can be) that clings on your skin, brightened up by the other flowers and warmed up by myrrh. It sums up what the marble statues smell like under the hot Greek sun.
