Gucci Bamboo is our perfume of the week, a week further more into spring but alas not spring like weather. You can see daffodils and crocuses everywhere, the first cherry blossoms and magnolias ready to bloom but we’re just not there yet!
In order to help spring mood set in a little easier I chose Gucci Bamboo for this week as it’s a very pretty floral perfume with woody drown down that although it has very powerful floral notes it still remains light and airy. The juice is a joyous pink housed in a diamond shaped art deco bottle with a silver bamboo shaped cap.
It opens with citrusy accords of bergamot leading to a floral heart of ylang-ylang, Casablanca lily and orange blossom. Sandalwood, Tahitian vanilla and amber form the base.
Lily is the queen in this perfume and after a brief fresh citrusy opening she takes centre stage, not heavy or cloying, but light, playful and sweetened by ylang and orange blossom. As the time passes the base notes add a powdery soft feel to the perfume and a dash of sweetness thanks to the vanilla that lasts a very long time on my skin and makes me think of beautiful warm spring days spent in the park while all flowers are in full bloom.
