Navitus Parfums is a brand that I've been really curious to try as I've seen a lot of reviews about them and have been really intrigued by the fact that Steven from the Redolessence Youtube Channel is one of their creative directors. All of Navitus Parfums, have been created by collaborating with some of the most well respected perfumers like Francis Kurkdjian, Dominique Ropion , Bertrand Duchaufour and many more; all of them have a very distinctive style and I really wanted to see how it would blend with the brands' philosophy. Navitus means energy in Latin and the brand wants to represent the passion and energy that envelops us when we wear the right fragrance; I've always associated specific fragrances to special moments or moods in my life and I can't wait to make some new ones with the fragrances of this line.
The fragrances I was kindly sent to review are Elation, Exalt Nuit, Lautus, Arcanum and Opulentas.
Elation Parfum - Master perfumer: Bertrand Duchaufour
Elation is a bright, fresh and uplifting fragrance where citrus and woody notes work in harmony to create a vibrant composition that ads a boost of energy. It's herbal and aromatic with a dash of spice added to the mix and it has a faint aquatic feel to it; it reminds me of walking through orange groves, into the forest and somehow ending up on the beach on a bright sunny day!
Notes
Top: Bergamot, Lime, Clementine, Pomelo, Brazilian Orange, Yuzu, Litsea Cubeba
Heart: Geranium, Lavender, Petitgrain, Clary Sage, Juniper Berry
Base: Chypre Accord, Moss, Indonesian Patchouli, Amberwood, Spanish Nutmeg, Musk & Driftwood
Exalt Nuit Parfum - Master Perfumers Francis Kurkdjian & Jerome Di Marino
Exalt Nuit is a gorgeously decadent mix of tobacco, cocoa and warm resins that add a seductive note to it. It's spicy and earthy and wearing it I feel both grounded and energised at the same time. A gourmand that's only faintly sweet, it's a fragrance that is warm and cosy and will definitely be one of my go to's for winter!
Notes:
Top: Italian Bergamot, Cocoa, Nutmeg, Olibanum
Heart: Madagascan Pepper, Anise, Indonesian Benzoin, Cistus, Jasmine Absolute
Base: Bulgarian Tobacco, Indonesian Patchouli, South African Tobacco Absolute, American Cedarwood & Haitian Vetiver.
Lautus Parfum - Master perfumer: Bertrand Duchaufour
Lautus is a very elegant modern fougere that I initially was not really impressed with, but came to appreciate the more I wore it. It feels like a clean white shirt that you can put on and immediately look well put together. Fresh, aromatic with a lovely creamy, woody - musky finish.
Notes:
Top: Neroli, Verbena, Lavender, Yuzu
Heart: Juniper Berry, Cascarilla, Freesia and Orris
Base: Ambergris, Palisander Rosewood, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Musk and Vanilla Absolute
Arcanum Parfum - Master Perfumer Jorge Lee
Arcanum is my favourite as it blends cinnamon with delicious coconut and peachy osmanthus laid on a bed of incense and vanilla; a combination that doesn't sound like it'd work but gives a sensual result with a touch of oud anchoring the entire composition; delicately sweet and spicy with an aura of smoke, quite mysterious!
Notes
Top: Cinnamon, Coconut, Frankincense Tears
Heart: Labdanum, Osmanthus, Laotian Oud
Base: Dark Amberwoods, Vanilla & Tonka Bean
Opulentas Parfum - Master Perfumer Christian Carbonnel
Opulentas has a regal aura and it's almost always sold out on the website! A juicy bite of apple gives a very surprising fruity introduction followed by a rush of spices, opulent rose paired with natural oud and wrapped up in a velvet blanket of earthy patchouli laid on a tasselled cushion of rich woods an oakmoss.
It does have a regal feel to it as it leaves a long-lasting trail of presence!
Notes
Top: Apple, Pink Pepper, Lemon
Heart: Rose, Cypriol, Natural Oud & Patchouli
Base: Amber, Woods & Oakmoss
